Chapter 2: “Let’s Be Happy”

By AnimaeChina

Angelique was standing in front of her closet looking for a good outfit for her date. She let out a frustrated groan, “Why didn’t I plan in advance. Randy-sama didn’t tell me yesterday!” After scrimmaging through the closet for fifteen minutes she finally assembled an outfit together. She chose a read blouse with short sleeves, blue cotton short skirt with lace around the trim, and light blue flats. She put them on and modeled herself in front of her vanity mirror. Then a couple of seconds later there was a knock at her door.

“Come in!” Angelique said straightening her clothes. Randy came in wearing a red shirt, covered by a white sports jacket, blue jeans, and red high-top sneakers.

“I’m sorry that I took so long. I had trouble figuring out what to wear.” Randy said shyly.

Angelique smiled at him gently, “It’s okay I had the same trouble too. Shall we go now?”

Randy smiled and nodded, “Is there any place that you want to go in particular?”

“Not really, I was hoping you would choose instead.” Angelique said timidly, shifting her feet nervously.

Randy gave her a sweet smile. “Would you like to go to the park?”

“Okay.” She agreed softly.

At the park.... *cue the bubbly park date music or maybe Shiawase ni Narou would be better*

“The weather is nice today, isn’t it?” Randy asked walking slowly.

“Yes, I really like sunny days.” Angelique replied walking beside him. “Don’t you?”

“Yes, I don’t like cloudy or rainy days at all, they make me depressed.” He said matter-of-factly. All of a sudden a dog ran up to Randy, barking. Both Randy and Angelique turned toward the dog in surprise. The dog just sat in front of Randy panting happily. A couple of seconds later a girl stood beside the dog, trying to regain her breath.

“G-gomen nasai. I’m sorry that my dog bothered you. It appears that you seem busy. He always runs to you because you’re usually willing to play with him.” The girl explained nervously.

Randy knelt down to the dog, “That’s all right. I’m not angry.” He said petting the dog. Angelique walked over to the girl and tapped her shoulder. The girl turned to her in surprise and gulped nervously.

“Do you mind if we play with you and your dog?” Angelique asked sweetly.

“You really mean it?!” Both the girl and Randy asked in surprise.

“Yes, I think we all need the exercise.” Angelique said thoughtfully. A couple of seconds later the girl brought out a red frisbee out of nowhere and threw to Randy.

“Ah...! I got it - I got it!” Angelique cried chasing after the frisbee, but it was all in vain because it crashed into a tree’s branches.

Randy came running up to Angelique, “How are we going to get it out?”

“I could climb up the tree if you would give me a boost.” Angelique suggested.

“But that’s too dangerous.” Randy said furrowing his brow.

“It’s all right, I’ll be careful.” Angelique protested calmly.

“But...”

As the two teenagers were arguing the girl began climbing the tree. She slowly climbed the branches to make sure wouldn’t loose balance of break a branch and fall. When the girl was on the same branch as the frisbee she inched herself slowly toward the frisbee as if she were walking on a tightrope. The branch began to shake a little each time she got closer to the frisbee, which caused some leaves to fall down. The two teenagers began to notice the leaves and glanced up.

“Miss! What are you doing!” Angelique screeched turning pale. The girl didn’t answer she was focused on getting her frisbee back. After a couple of seconds later the girl finally grabbed the frisbee.

“Yatta!” cried Randy enthusiastically.

Angelique clapped happily, “Way to go!” She cried cheerfully, accompanied by the dog’s barking. The girl was so excited that she lost her balance on the branch and fell. Acting quickly, Randy jumped into midair and caught the girl, landing steadily.

At the cafe...

Angelique took a small sip out of her cup of ice milk tea. “I’m so glad that the girl is all right. It was a good thing you caught her in time.” She gushed.

Randy blushed, taking a sip of his cola. “It’s no big deal; anybody could have done that.” He replied modestly.

“This date was interesting wasn’t it?” Angelique asked thoughtfully. Randy nodded shyly in return and then they gazed at each other’s eyes while drinking.
